Why Impact

More than hurricane protection.

Impact windows and doors do five jobs at the same time. Most homeowners only know about one.

01

Hurricane-rated to 170+ mph

Withstand direct flying-debris impact at hurricane wind speeds. No shutters to deploy, no pre-storm setup. Always armed. Always ready.

02

Up to 30% lower energy bills

Low-E coated glass and argon-filled insulating gaps cut heat transfer roughly in half. Most South Florida homes see a $40–$120 monthly drop in cooling costs after a full impact retrofit.

03

99% UV blocking

The same UV that fades your hardwood, your art, your rugs, your couch — laminated impact glass blocks 99% of it before it hits anything inside.

04

40–60% quieter inside

The PVB interlayer that holds the glass together during a hurricane also kills road noise, lawn mowers, aircraft overhead. Your house starts to feel further from the street.

05

15–45% off your wind insurance

Florida law requires insurers to discount homes with impact-rated openings. Most homeowners save $1,500–$4,000+ per year. The windows often pay for themselves in 5–7 years on this single line item.

Anatomy

Engineered layer by layer.

Not all impact windows are created equal. Budget builds cut corners on the layers you can't see — which is exactly where they fail. Here's the engineering inside every Titan-grade impact window.

Cross-section of a Titan impact window — laminated glass, bronze frame, and multi-point lock
Impact window cross-section
  • 01

    Laminated Glass

Two tempered glass panes bonded by a high-strength interlayer. This is what keeps the glass together during impact.

  • 02

    PVB Interlayer

Polyvinyl butyral. The transparent layer that absorbs the hit. Cheap windows use a thinner PVB — and that's exactly where they break.

  • 03

    Low-E Coating

A microscopic metallic film that reflects heat back outside. Pays for itself in cooling savings.

  • 04

    Argon Gas Fill

Inert gas between the panes. Slows heat transfer about 30% better than air.

  • 05

    Thermally Broken Frame

Aluminum frame with a thermal break in the middle so heat can't pass through the metal. Most cheap impact windows skip this layer.

  • 06

    Weatherstrip & Sill Seal

High-grade EPDM seals engineered for Florida UV. Don't degrade like cheap rubber.

Impact vs Shutters

If you're choosing between impact windows and shutters, here's the honest math.

We sell both. We install impact in 9 out of 10 jobs. Here's why.

CapabilityImpact WindowsHurricane Shutters
ProtectionPermanent, 24/7Only when deployed (correctly)
Action requiredNoneHours of pre-storm setup, every storm
Energy savingsUp to 30% cooling reductionZero
UV blocking99%Zero
Noise reduction40–60% quieter insideZero

Insurance discount (wind)15–45%5–25%
Lifetime cost (30 yrs)~$45,000 typical home~$15,000 + storm-prep time + lower credit
Stress before a stormNone — already protectedReal

Bottom line: Shutters are cheaper upfront and protect against impact. Impact windows are also protection for your sound, your AC bill, your floors, your sleep, and your insurance bill. The math depends on how long you plan to live in the home — for any horizon over 7 years, impact wins on lifetime cost.

Insurance Math

Your insurance company will pay you to do this.

Florida statute requires homeowners insurers to offer wind-mitigation discounts. Impact-rated openings trigger the single largest credit available. Here's what the math looks like on a typical South Florida home.

FAQ

Questions, answered straight.

Are impact windows required by code in South Florida?
In coastal Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, the Florida Building Code requires either impact-rated openings or approved hurricane shutters in the Wind-Borne Debris Region. That covers most homes here. Either qualifies — but impact wins on every other metric (energy, noise, insurance discount, daily quality of life).
How much do impact windows cost in 2026?
Whole-home impact retrofit averages $30,000–$60,000 in South Florida, depending on the number and size of openings. Per-opening: single hungs $650–$950, sliders $1,200–$2,500, sliding glass doors $1,200–$2,500 per panel.
How long does installation take?
Whole-home installs typically run 1–3 days. We start at 8am, leave a clean site each evening, and don't leave anything torn open overnight.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. We have an in-house permit team that files directly with your municipality. Average permit time on our jobs is 40% faster than the South Florida industry average — usually 1–2 weeks instead of 4–6.
What's the warranty?
Manufacturer warranty (typically lifetime on the frame, 20-year glass) plus the Titan workmanship warranty on the install. Both transferable to subsequent homeowners.
What if my HOA has aesthetic restrictions?
We have extensive experience with HOA submittals across South Florida. We handle the architectural review package — exterior color match, frame profile, hardware visibility — before installation.
Can I finance the project?
Yes. 0% intro APR available on approved credit. Terms up to 15 years. Most customers structure the financing so the insurance savings cover most of the monthly payment.
What happens if a window is damaged during a storm?
First, that's exceptionally rare on properly installed impact windows — but if it happens, the manufacturer warranty covers replacement glass, and we handle the install. We're also your point of contact for the insurance claim.
